This story really has a tempo in it. With the calm and casual start, it really indulged me into the plot. I felt like I've already experienced this conversation as part of my reality, and once I became completely part of the story as if I'm living it, the thrilling twist got in, it made my reading speed even more faster. In all these lines, I was not just experiencing the catastrophe of Ruby but was also anxious to know, "Oh my God, what will happen next?"
All my emotions came in flowing at once. At some point, I wasn't able to make the decision myself, that if I was Ruby, what should I do? My emotions were weighty towards drastic end i.e. the ultimate suicide option. But then again, it's the power of writer that after such a catastrophic experience, she has pulled the energy towards optimism. A radiant aura was again the climate of the story from which it started.
Besides tempo, this story really has a realistic depiction of how family relations are, and how deceptive people around us can be. I'm really happy to read this realistic dialog between mother, father, daughter, and aunt. The conversation was not sugarily quoted and that is the strength where the writer has really indulged reader into the situation. The relationship wasn't fantasied, it was the true, raw, and I would say the most purest form of love that do exist in our everyday lives. You know with sugary quoted relationships in the stories, people then don't recognize love in everyday relationships. With the natural occurrence of the love of parents and aunt in this story, the writer has done a great job in making readers reflect on ordinary sarcastic love. As far as the deception is concerned, we always think that the world is deceptive but the writer through this story perfectly describes how deception has risen from our very own existence. We think the world is evil. We never really reflect that the power given to evil is by our own selves. You've inherently put forward this idea.
Tides in Life is relatable to me and I think to all of us going through different phases of life. It has a journey that starts with a Raw shining aura, then many bad experiences are accumulated on to that aura. It appears on the immediate impulse that this aura will lose its shine but the writer creatively brings the truth of the journey which is, through whatever circumstances an aura may go through, it will never lose its shine. It'll only learn how to shine more brightly. In essence, a person may go through varying catastrophe in life, but s/he will never be able to escape the ultimate purpose of life, will never get rid of the inherent light that God has provided. The person after learning from his/her circumstances will eventually return to the purest form. From the bright light, we have come and to purest light, we'll eventually return.
I'm looking forward to read more of it. Brilliantly expressed.
